A Message from Our Founder:

Ever needed help in a way you didn’t know how to ask? Ever wanted someone to see you for where you could be—not just where you are? Someone willing to take the time and effort to help you when you needed it most?

I’ve been there. It’s a lonely place to face the aftereffects of trauma alone. It took me a long time to get the help I needed.

I’ve spent a large part of my life struggling with PTSD and depression. No one asks for it, and each person’s journey is different. I tried everything available—prescriptions, traditional talk therapy, group discussions, and weekend-long retreats. They helped for a while, but the relief never lasted.

Over time, I began to supplement those approaches with other forms of therapy and eventually found what worked for me—art and equine-assisted therapy.

Through these, I discovered something lasting. I saw real, measurable change in myself, and those closest to me noticed it too. Life became better, lighter, and at times even joyful again. Not every day is perfect, but when I return to what I’ve learned through these therapies, I can see what the best parts of life can be.

The truth is, not everyone has access to these kinds of programs. That’s what inspired me to start the Nicholas Dockery Foundation, an organization that partners with programs offering art and equine-assisted therapy to those who need it most.

I hope you’ll join me in helping others find the support they can’t always ask for, and the healing that helps them see themselves not as they are, but as they can be.
